Télécom Paris is looking for candidates for a position of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Optical Communications group (GTO) of the Communications and Electronics department. The position « Maître de Conférences » is equivalent to an « Assistant Professor » permanent position (https://www.telecom-paris.fr/en/)

The GTO group conducts advanced research on very high speed transmissions, optical network architectures, advanced lasers for communications, integrated photonics and distributed fiber optic sensors. The group has recently launched a new research direction on quantum communications, using among others our high-speed experimental platform. It is already involved in European projects on continuous variable quantum communications and wishes to strengthen and expand its activities in quantum technologies. The profile sought is a resourceful researcher who is willing to develop new research activities and teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to quantum photonics technologies applicable to optical communications and information processing. Particular interest will be shown in applicants who have demonstrated an ability to carry out and develop multidisciplinary research combining classical optical communications (including but not limited to digital signal processing or optical devices/sub-systems), and quantum communication systems.

Applications demonstrating a strong interest in experimental implementation in the laboratory will be preferred. Innovation, originality and potential of the candidate will also be highly appreciated.

Preferred scientific expertise:

In-depth theoretical and/or practical knowledge of communications and quantum information processing linked to one of the following topics:

• Physics of optical devices and quantum functionalities
• Optical transmission systems
• Digital signal processing for quantum communications
• Quantum-based network security
