Responsible for reliable daily operation of 3 state-of-the-art high-power (100-999 terawatt) solid state laser systems. Responsibilities will include daily alignment, maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting. Responsible for advanced laser diagnostic systems used to confirm acceptable quality required for user experiments. Will ensure that lasers are operated in accordance with approved operating procedures. Enforces all laser safety procedures. Utilizes critical thinking skills to creatively resolve technology challenges. Demonstrates ability to use advanced diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex system failures. Some nights and weekends required.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in lasers, optics, engineering, physics or related field, plus more than 5 years of hands on solid state laser and optics experience, hands on experience operating advanced laser diagnostic and control tools such as third order autocorrelators, ultra-fast pulse shapers, and adaptive optics, and hands on experience setting up imaging systems for vacuum diagnostics required. Equivalent education/experience considered.
Prefer Master's degree in lasers, optics, engineering, physics or related field; and experience with operation and maintenance of multi-terawatt and petawatt laser systems.
Posted Salary: $48,000/yr minimum
