Scope of Position: Tier II process support for Manufacturing micro optics. Drive design for manufacturability in new product development
Ensure product integrity by recommending approval of engineering changes in process design and change.
Ensure plant bills of materials and routings are consistent with the master design documents.
Assisting manufacturing and engineering personnel with any issues pertaining to the manufacturing process
Alignment station design and construction – micron tolerance
Laser-based active alignment measurement
Metrology, characterization of optical flats, wedges, prisms, WDM filters
Operation of deposition chambers
Epoxy application and diagnostics of front-line issues
Lead or participate in projects for cost reduction, process improvements to address quality and yield issues, or reduce production cycle times
Author process improvement qualification plans. Complete technical reports for internal publication
Participate in new product development projects as the Manufacturing representative, focusing on “Design for Manufacturability”. Use Stage Gate defined and DMAIC processes as appropriate.
Ensure quality issues caused by process issues or product performance are addressed through improvement projects and design change. Product Quality Architecture should be updated as necessary.
Identify gaps in manufacturing capabilities and make recommendations to improve. Support those improvements. Included in this are programs in TPM and LEAN implementation.

Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree or higher in relevant discipline
Masters Degree or PHD in Optics (preferred)
Degree in Optical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (preferred)
Minimum of 5 years total of technology, development, and manufacturing engineering experience (preferred)
Fully Bilingual in Spanish and English
Strong project management skills
Good problems solving and analytical capabilities (particularly statistical analysis)
Excellent communications, interpersonal and influencing skills
High initiative, able to work with a minimum of direction, and able to work in team environment
