North American business development, sales and customer support for products of a European manufacturer and market leader in optical components and systems.
Seek, respond to, process and convert business/sales leads to generate revenue in the assigned business area.
Build and cultivate relationships with existing and potential industrial, scientific and government customers in a variety of disciplines, including bio-photonics, material processing, health care and semiconductor manufacturing.
Expand sales opportunities for optical components and sub-systems in market areas such as laser annealing, laser materials processing, bio-photonics, science and medical applications.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop an understanding of market segmentation, customer applications, competition, market trends and dynamics in order to identify and target new opportunities and drive existing sales.
Own the sales process in the assigned business area – this includes the responsibility to create and maintain workflows, reports, records and files necessary for proper business and sales execution/management.
Collaborate with sales/service/R&D of affiliated companies in support of customer needs.
Attend technical conferences and trade shows as required.
This position sometimes requires hours outside of a standard eight-hour day/40-hour work week due to global communication, travel, customer availability, trade shows, etc. By its nature and due to its responsibilities, the position is exempt from overtime.
Access to customer sites may require additional documentation of physical status (e.g., retina imaging to discount laser damage prior to site visit) and/or other certifications of safety or training/knowledge, security.
Bachelor Degree in physics, optics or similar field; M.S. or Ph.D. preferred
Organizational skills to multi-task and meet deadlines as required
Proven soft skills, negotiating skills, and ability to influence
Unrestricted right to work in the United States
Open to travel; occasional international travel
Favorable Skills, Traits and Experience
Hands-on experience in optical and laser applications
Solid understanding of optics, laser technology and photonics applications in markets, such as medical optics, life&health science and materials processing
Interested to learn about a wide variety of laser related technologies and applications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to be productive in this position
