Applications Engineers work as a part of the Laser Applications Laboratory group demonstrating feasibility of TRUMPF additive manufacturing technologies to industrial customers. In this role you will communicate directly with customers, prepare customer demonstrations, and process additive manufacturing samples (laser metal fusion and laser metal deposition) for different industries. You will be a part of a highly skilled team of laser and material experts. Your goal is to support sales by ensuring best in class customer satisfaction in the pre-sales technology evaluation process and customer after-sales support.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities

Manage and execute laser metal fusion applications projects, including documentation review, communication with customers, evaluating technical requirements, preparing and processing customer applications, writing reports and following up with customers
Host customer visits and communicate directly with customers regarding applications and technology; mentor customers on process and product details and strengthen their relationship with TRUMPF
Routine communication with Laser Applications Laboratory in TRUMPF Headquarters, Germany regarding new applications, products, ideas, and headquarter’s support
Take part in laboratory equipment need reviews, bringing recommendations and feedback to the attention of the team supervisor
Maintain laboratory areas in excellent working condition and insure assigned laboratory and ancillary equipment are maintained according to manufacturer’s recommendations
Support Regional Sales Managers with strategic and key applications, including off-site customer visits
Write articles of applications for trade journals and conferences, if required and as applicable
Present applications expertise at TRUMPF sponsored events, conferences, customer sites and other events
Routine training to improve technical and communicational skills needed to perform in the job
Collaborate with regional sales managers, product managers, training coordinator, and technical service
Special projects and tasks as assigned
Experience in metal based additive manufacturing technologies preferred. Must have natural curiosity towards new innovations and technologies. Strong problem solving and communication skills are essential. Must demonstrate sound judgment with strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and focus in a dynamic team oriented environment.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science, or related field preferred.
