Cobolt AB, a manufacturer of high performance lasers and laser systems is expanding our US based sales team with an additional senior level Key Account / Business Development Manager. Cobolt AB, based in Stockholm, Sweden develops, manufactures and markets compact high performance lasers used in biotechnology, analytical chemistry, particle analysis, semiconductor metrology and gas sensing. Our US daughter company Cobolt Inc, was established in 2013 to support an increasing level of OEM business and customized solutions to North American markets. As of Dec 2015 Cobolt AB has been part of the Hübner Group, a family-owned business with >2400 employees world-wide and with headquarters in Kassel, Germany. As part of the integration process with Hübner, the Cobolt INC sales team will over the coming year be expanded to support all products of the Hübner Photonics division. Hübner Photonics provides lasers and laser systems, Tera-Herz spectroscopy equipment and Radar systems for advanced imaging, detection and analysis.
The successful candidate will join a sales team dedicated to building long term customer relationships, providing knowledgeable technical support and delivering exceptional customer service. As Key Account Manager you will be responsible for supporting and developing selected OEM business relations throughout North America. In this position you will have daily interactions with many of the leading companies and researchers in our target markets. Your technical support and knowledge will assist them to select the photonics tools that will be key to advancing their work. In your role you will also actively participate in the development of the organization at Cobolt INC to become a fully integrated sales channel of Hübner Photonics as well as growing the brand recognition of Cobolt and Hübner Photonics in the North American markets. Job Description and Responsibilities
Sales of high performance lasers to new customers as well as established key accounts in North America.
Identify key players in Cobolt and Hübner Photonics target markets and develop targeted account penetration plans
Cultivate high quality relationships with new customers through value added consultative selling and after sales service
Provide first line technical customer support by developing detailed knowledge of Cobolt’s and Hübner Photonics’ products and how they perform in customer applications.
Work with senior managers to negotiation long term supply and development agreements
Regular interactions with the Cobolt and Hübner Photonics engineering team in Sweden and Kassel in order to address complex technical issues and provide complete and timely feedback to customer’s request for information.
Prepare and maintain sales forecasts and budgets, participate in reporting of sales and financial performance to the mother company, attend trade conferences and exhibitions and travel to customer sites as required
30-50% travel within North America and occasional international travel
Provide mentoring and guidance to the rest of the sales team.
Technical education (minimum BS or BA) and work experience from OEM sales of lasers of other photonics products. Additional sales training involving value selling, LAMP Training, Effective Listening are definite pluses
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, both written and in presentations
Goal oriented, competitive and tenacious
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Interest and capability in coaching and managing a growing sales team
Ability and inclination to be empathetic, responsive and resourceful in solving customer problems
